Cognitive Focus: Understanding change over time
NCF Learning Outcome: Describes how family/community life, games, and transport have changed over time.

1. Classroom Opener (The Old Photo)

Activity: Show the students a black-and-white photo of a classroom or street from 50 years ago.
Ask: "What looks different in this picture compared to today? What looks the same?"
Concept: The world is always changing. How our grandparents lived is very different from how we live today.

2. Core Concepts: Change Over Time

A. Changing Families

Families change when a new baby is born, when someone gets married, or when someone moves to a new city for a job.
In the past, joint families living in the same village were very common. Today, many nuclear families move to different cities.

B. Changing Games and Traditions

Then: Grandparents played traditional outdoor games like Kabaddi, Gilli-Danda, or Pithu (Seven Stones). They used handmade toys.
Now: Many children play video games or use plastic, factory-made toys.
Traditions: Festivals are still celebrated, but sometimes the ways we celebrate (like sending e-cards instead of paper letters) change.

C. Transport Evolution

Then: Walking, bullock carts, horse carriages, and slow steam trains.
Now: Fast cars, electric trains, and airplanes that can cross the world in a day.

3. Classroom Activity: The Grandparent Interview

The Task (Take-home or Roleplay):

Ask the students to interview a grandparent (or an older neighbor/teacher).
Questions to ask:
- "What was your favorite game when you were 8 years old?"
- "How did you travel to school?"
The next day, students share the answers with the class. Compare them on the board under "Then" and "Now."

4. Assessment Check (Cause and Effect)

Question: "Think about how transport has changed. Today we have fast cars and airplanes, which is great! But what is one bad thing (problem) that fast cars and airplanes have brought to our environment?" (Looking for reasoning about air/noise pollution).
