1. Classroom Opener (The Baby Mix-up)

Activity: Show the class a picture of a human baby holding hands with a grown-up chimpanzee.
Ask: "Is this the baby's real mother? No! What does a human baby's mother look like?"
Concept: Explain that just like humans have babies that look like them, every animal has babies that look like them, and we have special names for them!

Dog → Puppy
Cat → Kitten
Cow → Calf
Lion → Cub
Hen → Chick
Horse → Foal
Sheep → Lamb

B. Animal Homes (Specific Names)

Bird: Nest (Built in trees with twigs).
Rabbit: Burrow (A hole dug in the ground).
Lion/Tiger: Den (A cave in the jungle).
Spider: Web (Spun with silk to catch food).
Bee: Hive.

3. Classroom Activity: The Matching Game

Prep: Create two sets of cards. Set A has pictures of Adult Animals. Set B has pictures of their Homes OR their Babies.

The Task:

Mix up the cards on a large table.
Have students work in pairs to find the matching sets (e.g., The Lion goes with the Cub, the Bird goes with the Nest).
Have them say the sentence out loud: "A Lion lives in a Den, and its baby is a Cub."

4. Assessment Check (Fill in the Blank / Oral)

Question: "A cow lives in a shed, and its baby is called a ________."
Question: "A spider does not live in a nest, it spins a ________." (Tests direct vocabulary association before they move to reasoning in Class 3).
