1. Classroom Opener (The Hook)

Bring-a-Fruit Day:

Ask each student to bring one fruit or vegetable from home (or bring a basket yourself).
Ask: "Why do we eat this? What happens if we don't eat anything all day?"
Guide them to the answer: "Food gives us energy to play and helps us grow big!"

2. Core Concepts: Where does it come from?

At this age, focus on simple origins rather than complex nutrition.

A. Food from Plants

Examples: Apples, bananas, carrots, rice, dal.
Activity: Hold up items from the basket. "Did this grow on a tree, or did it come from an animal?"

B. Food from Animals

Examples: Milk, eggs, chicken, fish.
Activity: Show a picture of a cow. "What food does this animal give us?"

3. Healthy vs. Unhealthy (Simple Sorting)

Healthy Food: Makes us strong and helps us grow (fruits, vegetables, milk).
Junk Food: Tastes good but doesn't help us grow if we eat too much (chips, chocolate, soda).

4. Assessment Check (Oral & Observational)

Sorting Game: Create two circles on the floor with tape. Label one "Healthy" (with a smiley face) and one "Junk" (with a neutral face).
Give students flashcards of different foods and have them place the card in the correct circle.
